The Human Face

opinons, thoughts, photography, pictures, Travel

facial expression is one or more motions or positions of the muscles beneath the skin of the face. According to one set of controversial theories, these movements convey the emotional state of an individual to observers.

Facial expressions are a form of nonverbal communication. They are a primary means of conveying social information between humans, but they also occur in most other mammals and some other animal species

The eyes are often viewed as important features of facial expressions. Aspects such as blinking rate can possibly be used to indicate whether a person is nervous or whether he or she is lying. Also, eye contact is considered an important aspect of interpersonal communication. However, there are cultural differences regarding the social propriety of maintaining eye contact or not. There is controversy surrounding the question of whether facial expressions are a worldwide and universal display among humans. Supporters of the Universality Hypothesis claim that many facial expressions are innate and have roots in evolutionary ancestors. Opponents of this view question the accuracy of the studies used to test this claim and instead believe that facial expressions are conditioned and that people view and understand facial expressions in large part from the social situations around them. Moreover, facial expressions have a strong connection with personal psychology.

Viltrox 13mm f1.4 for Fuji

First Impressions

I bought this lens after reading the very positive reviews on the net over several weeks. I have one other Viltrox lens the 23mm f1.4 that I have found to be capable of excellent results. It was time for me to find out if this was an isolated incident of a cheaper lens giving excellent results.

I could not find a used example here in Cambodia so I decided to purchase a new lens from my camera supplier in Phnom Penh. The images here are the first taken with this lens, straight from the X Pro3 in JPEG.

Over the next few weeks I will be putting this lens through its paces but my fist impressions are ” I’m Impressed “.

Get up close and wide open with VILTROX AF 13/1.4 XF, a professional, portable prime lens. With a focal length equivalent to 20mm, it’s the perfect choice for sprawling landscapes, the sights and sounds of the street, and everything else in between. Be ready for any creative outburst with lightning-fast autofocus, a wide F1.4 aperture, and unmatched optical design. AF 13/1.4 XF is ready to go wherever your adventures take you and fully capable of extracting every last bit of detail from your X Series mirrorless camera.

When I picked up this lens recently as part of a purchase of my Fuji X Pro 3 I was not expecting the result to match the Fuji XF 23mm f2 that I already owned but I was pleasantly surprised when I used it for the first time. It is, I found, a solidly built lens with equally solid performance.

The images it produces are sharp and contrasty but a little warmer in colour than the XF 23mm f2 and the AF is surprisingly a little faster, giving excellent results in my street pictures as can be seen below in the images of Venice Beach, California on a recent trip I was fortunate to make.

I found myself using this lens a lot on that trip as it was giving me the results I wanted and was quick and easy to use although a little heavier than the Fuji XF 23 f2. It is certainly a lens I would recommend.

Temporary Ban on FB for posting too many pictures.

FB, Fujichrome, fujifilm, Lenses, opinons, thoughts, pictures

Today I was going through my archive of pictures, in total about 12 TB stored, some of which I have never posted. Decided to work on some, maybe 20 and post them on my FB page. After posting I suddenly got a temporary ban for going against FB rules or community standards, whatever they may be as they don’t explain.

These are selection of the images I posted, and as can clearly be seen there are no really suspect images so I can only surmise that it is the actual number of images that brought me foul of the ”LAW”. They fail to say how long I will have to suffer this ”temporary ban” so will have to wait and see.
