I’ve been trying several Nikons lately (again) and wanted to talk about one of my favorites, the F2. The F2 was released in 1971 and manufactured in several variations until 1980. Like the F, the F2 was built as a system camera. Initially, the lenses made for the F worked the same way on the […]

Plastic Mess in Phnom Penh

Fujichrome, fujifilm, Lenses, opinons, thoughts, photography, pictures, Travel

Ian Kydd Miller's avatara world without pictures is like coffee without cream and sugar, bitter

The nightmare of the plastic and polystyrene waste scattered around the city does not seem to be getting any better. There seems to be little political commitment to tackling this problem and without that, it will never go away.

Ian Kydd Miller

As seen above is the collection of plastic waste at Bueng Trabek this fills the canal and just seems to get bigger. This will not rot down or go away and needs action to remove it and dispose of it in a proper fashion.

People are living with this stinking mess literally on their doorstep. The problem is caused by people actively or passively dumping their waste into the open sewer that leads to Bueng Trabek lake. The people need to start taking more responsibility for the care and disposal of their day too day waste and a much more effective system of collection must be implemented by…

The RAW vs JPEG Debate Needs to End… Again β€” FUJI X WEEKLY

fujifilm, Lenses, photography, pictures

Straight-out-of-camera JPEG from my Fujifilm X-E4 using the Pacific Blues recipe. I read a couple of articles over the last several days that bothered me, both of which stated that you must shoot RAW. These articles come up oftenβ€”it’s nothing new. I’ve written about it before, and even before that. The sentiment of β€œonly amateurs […]

Viltrox 13mm f1.4 for Fuji

fujifilm, Lenses, opinons, thoughts, photography, pictures, Travel

First Impressions

I bought this lens after reading the very positive reviews on the net over several weeks. I have one other Viltrox lens the 23mm f1.4 that I have found to be capable of excellent results. It was time for me to find out if this was an isolated incident of a cheaper lens giving excellent results.

I could not find a used example here in Cambodia so I decided to purchase a new lens from my camera supplier in Phnom Penh. The images here are the first taken with this lens, straight from the X Pro3 in JPEG.

Over the next few weeks I will be putting this lens through its paces but my fist impressions are ” I’m Impressed “.

Get up close and wide open with VILTROX AF 13/1.4 XF, a professional, portable prime lens. With a focal length equivalent to 20mm, it’s the perfect choice for sprawling landscapes, the sights and sounds of the street, and everything else in between. Be ready for any creative outburst with lightning-fast autofocus, a wide F1.4 aperture, and unmatched optical design. AF 13/1.4 XF is ready to go wherever your adventures take you and fully capable of extracting every last bit of detail from your X Series mirrorless camera.
