When I’m going out with the camera, I want to make sure I get the best shots possible. This means taking away as many distractions from the camera as I can, but still retaining all the control I need to get those photos. Over the years I’ve learned that auto-ISO is your friend, and here […]
Five Reasons To Use Auto-ISO — One Camera One Lens

It was such a gloomy morning, but the photography session had to go on! By the time we headed across the bay to Mumbles, the sun was out, the coats were off and we were ready to take photographs of an area that we had not ventured before! Armed with the Olympus EPL8 and the […]
A Walk Along The Coast. Mumbles To Blackpill — One Camera One Lens
The slum district along the railway tracks leading out of Phnom Penh through Toul Kok is rumoured to be developed after all the people are moved out.
It is an area I have documented quite a bit over the years and I thought I had better go take a fresh look before it disappears under concrete and glass. Apparently, there are plans to redevelop the railway lines that run through it and the people will be required to move.

I walk a lot around the city of Phnom Penh. It’s a big, colourful and in many places a dirty city. Most of my images document the happenings in people’s everyday lives, where they lives and how they display their wares.

A facial expression is one or more motions or positions of the muscles beneath the skin of the face. According to one set of controversial theories, these movements convey the emotional state of an individual to observers.
Facial expressions are a form of nonverbal communication. They are a primary means of conveying social information between humans, but they also occur in most other mammals and some other animal species.Â
The eyes are often viewed as important features of facial expressions. Aspects such as blinking rate can possibly be used to indicate whether a person is nervous or whether he or she is lying. Also, eye contact is considered an important aspect of interpersonal communication. However, there are cultural differences regarding the social propriety of maintaining eye contact or not. There is controversy surrounding the question of whether facial expressions are a worldwide and universal display among humans. Supporters of the Universality Hypothesis claim that many facial expressions are innate and have roots in evolutionary ancestors. Opponents of this view question the accuracy of the studies used to test this claim and instead believe that facial expressions are conditioned and that people view and understand facial expressions in large part from the social situations around them. Moreover, facial expressions have a strong connection with personal psychology.
I bought this lens after reading the very positive reviews on the net over several weeks. I have one other Viltrox lens the 23mm f1.4 that I have found to be capable of excellent results. It was time for me to find out if this was an isolated incident of a cheaper lens giving excellent results.
I could not find a used example here in Cambodia so I decided to purchase a new lens from my camera supplier in Phnom Penh. The images here are the first taken with this lens, straight from the X Pro3 in JPEG.
Over the next few weeks I will be putting this lens through its paces but my fist impressions are ” I’m Impressed “.

Get up close and wide open with VILTROX AF 13/1.4 XF, a professional, portable prime lens. With a focal length equivalent to 20mm, it’s the perfect choice for sprawling landscapes, the sights and sounds of the street, and everything else in between. Be ready for any creative outburst with lightning-fast autofocus, a wide F1.4 aperture, and unmatched optical design. AF 13/1.4 XF is ready to go wherever your adventures take you and fully capable of extracting every last bit of detail from your X Series mirrorless camera.
Today I was going through my archive of pictures, in total about 12 TB stored, some of which I have never posted. Decided to work on some, maybe 20 and post them on my FB page. After posting I suddenly got a temporary ban for going against FB rules or community standards, whatever they may be as they don’t explain.

These are selection of the images I posted, and as can clearly be seen there are no really suspect images so I can only surmise that it is the actual number of images that brought me foul of the ”LAW”. They fail to say how long I will have to suffer this ”temporary ban” so will have to wait and see.

When I heard that Kodak were producing Gold in 120 format I was pretty excited .. not because it was Gold as I haven’t really shot too much of it in the past and to be totally honest I had to look on the internet for samples just to see what it was really like […]
